This creamy Chicken Tikka Masala is a flavorful and satisfying dish that's perfect for a cozy night in. I've been making this recipe for years, and it's always a hit! The combination of aromatic spices, tender chicken, and a rich tomato-cream sauce is simply irresistible. While the original recipe calls for cooking the chicken separately, I've adapted it for the Thermomix® to streamline the process. It's a bit spicy, so adjust the cayenne pepper to your liking. Serve with rice or naan bread for a complete and delicious meal. This dish is great for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients (16 ingredients)

  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 piece onion, finely chopped
  • 4 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 14 ounce tomato sauce
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 piece skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 0.5 teaspoon curry powder

Prepare the onion and garlic

Add 1 onion, finely chopped, and 4 cloves of garlic, minced, to the mixing bowl and chop for 3 Sec./Stufe 5.

Sauté onion and garlic with ghee

Add 2 tablespoons of ghee (clarified butter) to the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 Min./120°C/Stufe 1.

Add and fry the spices

Add 1 tablespoon of ground cumin, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon of ground turmeric to the mixing bowl and fry for 2 Min./120°C/Stufe 1.

Simmer the tomato sauce

Add 1 (14 ounce) can of tomato sauce to the mixing bowl and simmer for 10 Min./100°C/Stufe 1.

Add cream, sugar, and paprika

Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 1 tablespoon of white sugar, and 2 teaspoons of paprika to the mixing bowl. Simmer for 10 Min./90°C/Stufe 1.

Sear the chicken

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a separate skillet over medium heat. Stir in 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into bite-size pieces; add ½ teaspoon of curry powder. Sear chicken until lightly browned but still pink inside, about 3 minutes; stir often.

Simmer chicken in sauce

30 min/212°F/Speed 1/Linkslauf 100 Reverse

Transfer chicken and any pan juices into the mixing bowl. Simmer chicken in sauce until no longer pink, about 30 minutes; adjust sugar and salt to taste. Cook for 30 Min./100°C/Stufe 1/Linkslauf.
