Description

Delicious nut cubes, perfect for Christmas or as a dessert.

Ingredients (19 ingredients)

  • 200 g Flour
  • Flour for the work surface
  • 50 g Cornstarch
  • 1 Messerspitze Baking powder
  • 175 g Soft butter
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 1 Päckchen Vanilla sugar
  • 1 Stück Egg
  • 30 g Sultanas
  • 30 g Candied lemon peel
  • 2 FL Rum
  • 100 g Ground hazelnuts
  • 50 g Ground almonds
  • 75 g Sugar
  • 1 Stück Unprocessed orange
  • 1 EL Lemon juice
  • 150 g Powdered sugar
  • 2 EL Lemon juice
  • 30 Stück Unpeeled hazelnut kernels

Preparation (11 steps)

Prepare shortcrust pastry

Sift flour and cornstarch with baking powder onto the work surface.

Knead dough

Thermomix® Setting

Put butter in flakes, sugar, vanilla sugar and egg in the mixing bowl. Knead with the Meistermix Patix dough knife for 2 min./kneading stage to form a smooth dough.

Dough rest

Shape the dough into a ball, wrap in foil and let it rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Prepare filling

Rinse the sultanas in a sieve under hot water. Chop sultanas and candied lemon peel and soak in rum for 15 minutes.

Mix filling

Put soaked sultanas and candied lemon peel with ground hazelnuts, almonds, sugar, grated orange zest and lemon juice in the mixing bowl and stir for 15 sec./speed 3.

Roll out and spread dough

Roll out the shortcrust pastry to a thickness of 3 mm into a rectangle on the floured work surface and then cut in half. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment paper. Place one half of the dough on top, spread with the filling and cover with the second dough sheet.

Prick dough

Prick the dough several times on the top with a fork.

Baking

Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C on the middle rack for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Then remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Prepare glaze

Thermomix® Setting
15 sec

Put powdered sugar and lemon juice in the mixing bowl and stir for 15 sec./speed 3 until a thick glaze forms.

Glaze and cut

Glaze the dough sheet with it and cut into 3 x 3 cm squares while still warm. Place on a wire rack. Press 1 hazelnut kernel into the still moist glaze per cube.

Store

To store, layer with parchment paper in tin cans.
