Description

This bread roll casserole with sour cherries is a delicious sweet dish from the Thermomix® and is ideal for using up stale bread rolls. In addition to bread rolls and sour cherries, milk, eggs and butter are used. Preparation takes about 45 minutes and yields 4 servings. The recipe is well suited as a warm dessert or sweet main course for the whole family.

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 200 g Bread rolls, stale
  • 370 g Sour cherries, drained weight
  • 300 ml Milk, warm
  • 2 Stück Eggs, size M
  • 50 g Butter, soft
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 1 Päckchen Vanilla sugar
  • 2 TL Baking powder
  • 1 EL Butter
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla sauce, cold

Preparation (12 steps)

Preheat oven and drain cherries

Preheat the oven to 200°C top/bottom heat. Pour the sour cherries into a sieve to drain them. Take the butter out of the refrigerator in good time so that it becomes soft. No Thermomix setting required.

Chop bread rolls

Cut the stale bread rolls into approx. 1 cm pieces and place in a bowl. No Thermomix setting required.

Heat milk

Put the milk in the mixing bowl and heat for 3 min./50°C/speed 2.

Soak bread rolls in milk

Pour the warm milk over the bread roll pieces until they have completely absorbed the milk. No Thermomix setting required.

Separate eggs and beat egg whites until stiff

Separate the eggs. Place the egg white with the butterfly in the mixing bowl and whisk until stiff for 3 min./speed 3.5. Transfer the egg whites and set aside.

Stir butter, sugar and vanilla sugar

Put the soft butter, sugar and vanilla sugar in the mixing bowl and stir until creamy for 30 sec./speed 4.

Stir in egg yolks

Add the egg yolks and stir in for 15 sec./speed 3.

Add baking powder

Add the baking powder and stir in for 10 sec./speed 3.

Fold in bread rolls, cherries and egg whites

Add the soaked bread roll pieces, the drained cherries and the egg whites to the mixing bowl and carefully fold in for 30 sec./reverse rotation speed 2.

Prepare baking dish and pour in mixture

Grease a baking dish with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. No Thermomix setting required.

Bake

Bake the baking dish on the middle rack in the preheated oven at 200°C top/bottom heat for 30 minutes. No Thermomix setting required.

Serve

Dust the finished bread roll casserole with powdered sugar and serve with cold vanilla sauce. No Thermomix setting required.
