Description

This hearty chicken goulash with mashed potatoes, prepared in the Thermomix®, is a savory main course with diced chicken, peppers, and potatoes. Refined with milk, butter, and nutmeg, it's an affordable and warming family meal. It takes only 35 minutes to make 4 servings. Ideal for autumn/fall and lovers of hearty cuisine.

Ingredients (15 ingredients)

  • 800 g Potatoes, waxy
  • 400 ml Milk
  • 20 g Nutmeg spice blend with, among other things, nutmeg, turmeric, vegetables
  • 2 TL Butter
  • 70 g Onion(s) and garlic, chopped
  • Rapeseed oil for frying
  • 500 g Diced chicken
  • 360 g Bell pepper(s), green
  • 200 g Carrot(s)
  • 200 g Leek
  • 35 g Tomato paste
  • 200 g Crème fraîche
  • 8 g Paprika spice blend with, among other things, paprika, garlic, pepper, onion
  • 200 ml Water
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation (10 steps)

Chop onions and garlic

Thermomix® Setting

Place 70 g of onions in coarse pieces and garlic in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./speed 5. Use the spatula to push down.

Sauté onions and garlic

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/248°F/Speed 1 120

Add 2 tsp butter and rapeseed oil to the onions and garlic in the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Fry chicken (NOT in the Thermomix!)

Fry 500 g of diced chicken in a separate pan with rapeseed oil and then transfer to a large pot.

Prepare and fry vegetables (NOT in the Thermomix!)

Halve 360 g green bell peppers, core and cut into 3 cm pieces. Clean 200 g carrots and 200 g leeks and cut into slices. Add the vegetables together with the fried chicken to the pot and fry for 4-5 minutes.

Add tomato paste

Add 35 g tomato paste to the pot and sauté for 1 min.

Finish the goulash

Add 200 g crème fraîche, 8 g paprika spice blend, 200 ml water, salt and pepper to taste to the pot with the goulash and simmer for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are soft. Add more water by the tablespoon if necessary. Then season with salt and pepper.

Prepare potatoes

Peel 800 g of waxy potatoes and cut into cubes.

Prepare mashed potatoes

Add 400 ml milk, 20 g nutmeg spice blend and the potato cubes to the mixing bowl and cook for 8 min./100°C/speed 1.

Refine mashed potatoes

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 4

Add 2 tsp butter to the potatoes in the mixing bowl and process into a creamy mash for 20 sec./speed 4. Season with salt and pepper.

Plating

Distribute the chicken goulash and mashed potatoes on plates and serve.
