Description

I love preparing these chicken bites in sweet and sour sauce! It is a dish that brings me back to the flavors of Asia, but with my own twist. The sauce, prepared with the Thermomix®, is simply perfect: a balance between sweet and sour that enhances the flavor of the chicken. The recipe is super easy and quick, ideal for a family dinner or with friends. The chicken, tender and juicy, goes very well with basmati rice. A tip? Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh spring onions for a touch of color and extra flavor! Perfect for those who love oriental flavors and are looking for a tasty alternative to the usual chicken.

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 500 g chicken breast
  • 2 cucchiai flour
  • seed oil
  • 200 ml water
  • 50 g sugar
  • 40 ml white vinegar
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • sesame seeds
  • spring onions (the green part)

Preparation of the sweet and sour sauce

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/122°F/Speed 2 50

Pour 200 ml of water, 50 g of sugar, 1 pinch of fine salt and 40 ml of white vinegar into the Thermomix bowl. Mix for 3 Min./50°C/Stufe 2, until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Addition of tomato paste

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 3

Add 1 tablespoon of tomato paste to the bowl and mix for 10 Sek./Stufe 3.

Thickening of the sauce

Thermomix® Setting
5 min/194°F/Speed 2 90

Dissolve 1 teaspoon of cornstarch in a little water and pour it into the bowl. Cook for 5 Min./90°C/Stufe 2, until the sauce has thickened. Transfer the sauce to a bowl and set aside.

Chicken preparation

Cut 500 g of chicken breast into cubes and coat them evenly with 2 tablespoons of flour.

Browning the chicken

In a wok with a generous drizzle of seed oil, brown the floured chicken cubes until they become golden on all sides, it will take about 10-12 minutes. This step is not performed in the Thermomix.

Final cooking with the sauce

Once the chicken is well browned, add the sweet and sour sauce prepared previously in the wok. Let everything cook until the sauce reduces slightly and sticks to the chicken. This step is not performed in the Thermomix.

Plating

Serve the sweet and sour chicken hot, garnishing with sesame seeds and the chopped green part of the spring onion. This step is not performed in the Thermomix.
