Description

These spiced grilled chicken thighs are a flavorful and easy main course, perfect for a summer barbecue or a festive Christmas brunch. The chicken is marinated in a blend of Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and aromatic spices like paprika, garam masala, and ginger, creating a tender and juicy result. I've been making this recipe for years, and it's always a hit with family and friends. The marinade can be prepared in the Thermomix® for a smooth and consistent texture. It's a great way to add a little spice to your meal!

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 16 piece skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 piece lemons
  • 4 tsp paprika
  • 2 piece red onions
  • vegetable oil
  • 300 ml Greek yogurt
  • ginger
  • 4 clove garlic cloves
  • 0.75 tsp garam masala
  • 0.75 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.5 tsp chilli powder
  • 0.25 tsp ground turmeric

Preparation (8 steps)

Prepare the chicken

Slash each of the 16 skinless chicken thighs three times to allow the marinade to penetrate deeply.

Prepare the base marinade

Thermomix® Setting
3 sec/Speed 5

Cut 2 red onions into quarters. Add the red onions to the mixing bowl and chop for 3 Sec./Stufe 5.

Mix base marinade with lemon juice

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 3

Add the juice of 2 lemons and 4 tsp paprika to the mixing bowl with the chopped red onions. Mix for 10 Sec./Stufe 3.

Marinate chicken in base

Place the chicken thighs in a large, shallow dish. Pour the mixture from the mixing bowl over the chicken thighs, turn to coat in the mixture, and set aside for 10 mins.

Prepare the marinade

Add 300ml Greek yogurt, a large piece of ginger (peeled and roughly chopped), and 4 garlic cloves to the mixing bowl. Chop for 5 Sec./Stufe 7.

Add spices to marinade

Thermomix® Setting
15 sec/Speed 4

Add ¾ tsp garam masala, ¾ tsp ground cumin, ½ tsp chilli powder, and ¼ tsp ground turmeric to the mixing bowl. Mix for 15 Sec./Stufe 4.

Marinate the chicken

Pour the marinade over the chicken thighs. Give everything a good mix, then cover and chill for at least 1 hr. This can be done up to a day in advance.

Grill the chicken

Heat the grill. Lift the chicken pieces onto a rack over a baking tray. Brush over a little vegetable oil and grill for 8 mins on each side, or until lightly charred and completely cooked through.
