Description

This hearty layered salad is a true classic and perfect for any party or a relaxed brunch weekend! I've been making it for years and it's always a hit. The combination of crunchy endive lettuce, sweet peas and carrots, spicy cheese and crispy cured pork belly is simply unbeatable. The secret lies in the long cooling time so that all the flavors combine perfectly. Ideal for preparing and bringing along - an absolute must for all salad lovers!

Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Endive Lettuce
  • 2 piece Onion(s)
  • 450 g Peas Frozen
  • 500 g Mayonnaise
  • 750 g Carrot(s) Chopped
  • 200 g Cheese (Edam), grated
  • 250 g Cured pork belly diced

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare endive lettuce

Clean the endive lettuce and cut into fine strips. Place in a large salad bowl.

Chop onions

Thermomix® Setting

Peel and halve the onions and place in the mixing bowl. Chop for 3 seconds/speed 5.

Layer salad

Layer the chopped onions, frozen peas, mayonnaise, chopped carrots and grated cheese over the endive lettuce in the bowl.

Fry cured pork belly

Fry the diced cured pork belly in a pan without adding fat until crispy brown.

Finalize salad

Distribute the crispy fried cured pork belly together with the rendered fat, still hot, over the cheese in the salad bowl.

Let salad sit

Cover the salad and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours so that the flavors can combine optimally.
