Description

This whiskey chocolate cake is an absolute highlight for special occasions! The juicy chocolate cake, refined with a dash of whiskey, harmonizes perfectly with the creamy vanilla cream. I like to bake this cake for birthdays or other festive occasions. If you like it milder, you can reduce the whiskey and replace it with milk. Preparation with the Thermomix® is very easy and saves time. A tip: Let the cake cool well before serving, then it tastes even better! The vanilla cream makes it an unforgettable pleasure.

Ingredients (15 ingredients)

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Cocoa powder
  • 4 piece Eggs
  • 1 Pck. Baking powder
  • 1 Pck. Vanilla sugar
  • 1 cup Whiskey
  • 1 cup Sunflower oil
  • 1 piece Vanilla bean(s)
  • 500 ml Milk
  • 4 piece Egg yolk
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 40 g Flour
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • 150 ml Whipping cream

Preparation (8 steps)

Prepare dough

Thermomix® Setting
30 sec/Speed 4

Put sugar, flour, cocoa powder, eggs, baking powder, vanilla sugar, whiskey, sunflower oil in the mixing bowl and mix for 30 sec./level 4 to a smooth dough.

Bake dough

Pour the dough into a greased cake tin and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for approx. 25 minutes.

Prepare vanilla milk

Thermomix® Setting
5 min/176°F/Speed 1 80

Cut the vanilla bean lengthwise. Scrape out the pulp and add to the milk with the pod. Put the milk in the mixing bowl and heat for 5 min./80°C/level 1. Remove vanilla bean.

Prepare egg yolk

Whisk the egg yolk and 40 g sugar in a bowl with a whisk until frothy.

Prepare cream

Thermomix® Setting
7 min/194°F/Speed 2 90

Mix flour and cornstarch and stir into the egg yolk-sugar mixture. Pour in the hot vanilla milk while stirring constantly. Put the mixture in the mixing bowl and cook for 7 min./90°C/level 2 until the cream thickens.

Whip cream

Thermomix® Setting
2 min/Speed 3,5

Put whipping cream with the remaining sugar in the mixing bowl and whip with the butterfly for 2 min./level 3.5 until stiff.

Refine cream

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the cooled vanilla cream.

Decorate cake

When the cake has cooled, spread the vanilla cream on the cake with the help of a cake ring and serve.
