Description

These crispy chicken meatballs are a delicious alternative to the classic hamburger! Prepared with the Thermomix®, they are very easy and quick to make. The ground chicken meat is flavored with fragrant spices and then fried to obtain a golden and irresistible crust. Perfect for a quick lunch, an informal dinner or a brunch with friends. I always serve them in a bread roll with mayonnaise and fresh salad, but they can also be enjoyed on their own as finger food. A simple and tasty idea that everyone will like!

Formation of the meatballs

Place a square of baking paper on the cutting board. Form the meatballs with a pastry cutter, pressing the meat well. Repeat until all the meat is used up. If possible, place the meatballs in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes to allow them to compact.

4

Preparation of the breading

In a baking dish, pour the flour and flavor it with garlic powder, four spices, cumin and white pepper. In another baking dish, pour the egg whites lightly beaten with a little milk.

5

Frying the meatballs

Pass the meatballs first in the flavored flour and then in the egg whites. Heat plenty of seed oil in a pan until it reaches a temperature of 180°C. Fry the meatballs until golden brown. Drain them on absorbent paper.

6

Heating the bread

Cut the hamburger bread rolls in half. Heat a pan and lightly toast the halves of the bread roll on the crumb side.

7

Assembly of the bread roll

Spread the mayonnaise on the bottom of the bread roll, cover with the chicken meatballs, salt lightly and add the salad. Season again with mayonnaise and close with the second slice of bread.

About this recipe

Chicken meatballs in bread roll are a comfort food that takes me back to my childhood, when my grandmother used to prepare meatballs in tomato sauce for Sunday lunch. This version, more modern and suitable for a quick meal, maintains the familiar flavor but with a crunchy touch that makes it irresistible. The chicken thigh is the basis of this recipe, a lean and versatile meat that lends itself to being flavored with spices and aromatic herbs. The egg white, in addition to binding the ingredients, helps to make the meatballs lighter and softer. The flour, on the other hand, is essential for the breading, which gives this dish its typical crunchiness. The spices, such as garlic powder, four spices and cumin, are the secret to a rich and enveloping flavor. Whole milk adds a touch of creaminess to the dough, while white pepper gives a slightly spicy note. The use of the Thermomix® greatly simplifies preparation. The chopping of the meat is quick and uniform, and the dough is homogeneous in a few seconds. A tip: to obtain more compact meatballs, it is important not to work the dough too much. After forming the meatballs, place them in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes. This step allows the meat to firm up and not fall apart during frying. For a perfect breading, make sure that the meatballs are well floured and then dipped in the egg white. Peanut oil is ideal for frying, because it has a high smoke point and gives a neutral flavor. To vary the recipe, you can use other white meats, such as turkey or rabbit. For a vegetarian or vegan version, chicken meatballs can be replaced with lentil or chickpea meatballs. As for the spices, you can experiment with smoked paprika, curry or ginger. Crispy chicken meatballs in bread roll are perfect for a quick lunch, an informal dinner or a brunch with friends. They can be served with mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard or other sauces to taste. Iceberg or butter lettuce adds freshness and crunchiness to the bread roll. As a side dish, you can serve french fries, mixed salad or grilled vegetables. Chicken meatballs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. They can also be frozen, both raw and cooked. In this case, it is important to thaw them completely before cooking or reheating them. To prepare in advance, you can form the meatballs and store them in the refrigerator until ready to fry.
