Description

This steamed chicken with ginger and soy is a light and flavorful dish, perfect for a quick and healthy dinner. The marinade with fresh ginger, garlic, rice wine and soy sauce gives the chicken an irresistible aroma. I often prepare it when I want something exotic but do not want to give up lightness. Steaming preserves the tenderness of the chicken and enhances its flavor. Ideal to serve with basmati rice or steamed vegetables. A true Asian comfort food!

Ingredients (8 ingredients)

  • Chicken
  • Spring onions
  • 5 cm Fresh ginger
  • Chinese rice wine
  • Light soy sauce
  • Dark soy sauce
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 500 ml Water

Preparation (4 steps)

Chopped garlic and ginger

Thermomix® Setting
3 Sec./Speed 7

Insert a clove of garlic into the bowl and chop for 3 Sec./Level 7. Transfer to a bowl. Add 5 cm of fresh ginger cut into strips into the bowl and chop for 3 Sec./Level 7. Transfer to the same bowl with the garlic.

Chicken marinade

In the bowl with the chopped garlic and ginger, pour an adequate amount of Chinese rice wine, light soy sauce and dark soy sauce. Mix well. Pour the marinade over the chicken, cover with transparent film and leave to marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Steaming

Thermomix® Setting
25 min/Varoma/Speed 1 Varoma

Pour 500 ml of water into the bowl. Place the Varoma. Arrange the spring onion cut into strips in the Varoma. Place the marinated chicken on top of the spring onion. Wet the chicken with the filtered marinade. Close the Varoma and cook for 25 Min./Varoma/Level 1.

Serve

At the end of cooking, remove the chicken from the Varoma and cut it into chunks. Serve the steamed chicken on a serving dish, seasoning it with a couple of tablespoons of marinade and other fresh spring onion cut into slices.
