Description

This chicken in sweet and sour sauce with panela is a healthier and more delicious alternative to the traditional recipe. The combination of sweet and sour flavors, along with the rustic touch of panela, makes it an irresistible dish. Ideal for a family meal or a special dinner, this chicken is easy to prepare and sure to delight everyone. I prepare it often and it is always a success. You can accompany it with white rice or a fresh salad. Go ahead and try it, you will be surprised how rich it is! The panela gives it a special and different touch.

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1 piece chopped chicken
  • 1 piece onion
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 2 piece carrots
  • 0.5 piece leek
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 1 piece large lemon
  • 3 tbsp panela
  • 0.5 copa red wine
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper

Preparation (10 steps)

Prepare the chicken

Chop the chicken into portions and season with salt and pepper to taste. Reserve.

Chop the vegetables

Peel and cut the onion into quarters. Peel the garlic cloves. Peel and cut the carrots into slices. Cut the leek into slices. Reserve the vegetables.

Put the onion, the garlic cloves and the Leek in the mixing bowl and chop everything 3 Sec./Level 5.

Sautéed onion, garlic and leek

Put the chopped onions, garlic and Leek together with some oil in the mixing bowl and sauté everything 3 Min./120°C/Level 1.

Add the carrot

Add the carrots to the sauté in the Mixtopf and cook 5 Min./120°C/Level 1.

Roast the chicken

In a pan, roast the chopped chicken until it is golden brown on all sides. If necessary, add a few drops of oil to prevent it from sticking. Reserve.

Add the chicken to the sauté

Transfer the roasted chicken to the pan with the sautéed vegetables. Add half a glass of red wine and cook over medium heat until the wine evaporates.

Mix the lemon juice, honey and panela

In a small bowl, mix the lemon juice, honey and panela until well combined. Reserve.

Add the sweet and sour mixture

Pour the lemon juice, honey and panela mixture over the chicken in the pan. Cook over low heat for 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the chicken is well infused with the flavors.

Serve

Serve the chicken in sweet and sour sauce with hot panela. You can accompany it with white rice, mashed potatoes or a fresh salad.
