Description

This herb-infused roast chicken is a simple yet flavorful dish perfect for a family dinner or a festive occasion. I've been making this recipe for years, and it always comes out juicy and delicious. The combination of onion powder, salt, pepper, and butter creates a wonderful aroma and taste. The celery adds a subtle, earthy note that complements the chicken beautifully. It's easy to prepare and requires minimal effort, making it ideal for busy weeknights. The total cooking time is around 1 hour and 15 minutes, plus a 30-minute resting period. Enjoy!

Ingredients (6 ingredients)

  • 1 piece whole chicken, giblets removed (3 pound)
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • onion powder
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 stalk celery, leaves removed

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare the Chicken

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove the giblets from the 3-pound whole chicken.

Season the Chicken

Place the chicken in a roasting pan. In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, and onion powder to taste. Season the chicken generously inside and out with the mixture.

Prepare Butter and Celery

Place ½ cup of butter in the Mixtopf and melt for 2 Min./50°C/Stufe 2. Cut 1 stalk of celery into 3 or 4 pieces.

Stuff and Top the Chicken

Place 3 tablespoons of the melted butter in the chicken cavity. Arrange dollops of the remaining melted butter on the outside of the chicken. Place the cut celery pieces in the chicken cavity.

Roast the Chicken

Bake the chicken uncovered in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh, near the bone, should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Baste and Rest

Remove the chicken from the oven and baste with drippings. Cover with aluminum foil and allow to rest for about 30 minutes before serving.
