Description

This recipe for Onion Rings with Chipotle Dip is a delicious snack or appetizer. The onion rings are deep-fried in a crispy batter and served with a spicy Chipotle Dip. Preparation takes about 30 minutes and yields about 20 servings. Ideal for parties or as finger food.

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 100 g Flour
  • 0.5 TL Baking powder
  • 0.5 TL Salt
  • Leaves Rosemary
  • 200 ml Beer
  • 50 g White flour
  • 1 Stück large Onion
  • 150 ml Oil for frying (Rapeseed or sunflower oil)
  • 3 EL Cashew Mayo
  • 0.5 TL Chili Chipotle spice
  • nach Geschmack Salt
  • 0.5 Stück Lime

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare dough

Thermomix® Setting

Put 100 g flour, ½ tsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt and a few leaves of rosemary into the mixing bowl and mix for 10 sec./speed 4. Add 200 ml beer and stir with the spatula for 20 sec./speed 3 until a fine dough is formed.

Prepare onion rings

Have 50 g white flour ready in a second bowl. Cut 1 large onion into approx. 7 mm thick rings.

Prepare Chipotle Dip

Thermomix® Setting

Put 3 tbsp Cashew Mayo and ½ tsp Chili Chipotle spice into the mixing bowl and mix for 10 sec./speed 3. Season with salt. If you like it spicier, add a little more Chipotle. To make the sauce more liquid, a little water can be added.

Fry onion rings

Heat 150 ml of oil for frying in a small, well-coated pan over medium to high heat. Briefly dip each onion ring in cold water, then turn in the flour and dip in the batter. Then fry in the oil on both sides until the batter is crispy golden brown (it goes very quickly!). Let it cool down a little on a rack and proceed with the rest of the onion rings.

Serve

Serve the onion rings with the Chipotle dip and the lime juice.
