Description

These stuffed bread slice rolls are a delicious and quick option for a snack or an informal dinner. The combination of soft bread, fried tomato, crispy bacon and melted cheese is simply irresistible. I prepare them often when I have little time and want something tasty and comforting. They are perfect to share with friends or enjoy alone. Also, you can vary the filling ingredients according to your tastes, adding mushrooms, peppers or any other ingredient that you fancy. Go ahead and try them, you'll love them!

Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 6 slice Bread slice
  • Fried tomato
  • Bacon strips
  • Grated cheese
  • 1 trocito Butter
  • Garlic powder
  • Oregano

Preparation (4 steps)

1

Flatten the bread slice

With a rolling pin, lightly flatten the 6 slices of bread slice to facilitate rolling. This step is crucial so that the rolls remain compact and do not fall apart when cooking.

2

Fill and roll

Spread fried tomato to taste on each flattened bread slice. Add bacon strips and grated cheese to taste at one end of each slice. Roll carefully, pinching the edge to seal and prevent them from opening during cooking.

3

Prepare the flavored butter

Thermomix® Setting
1 min/122°F/Velocidad 2 50

In the Thermomix glass, place 1 piece of butter, garlic powder to taste and oregano to taste. Program 1 Min./50°C/Speed 2 to melt and mix the ingredients. This step will give the rolls a delicious flavor.

Bathe and brown the rolls

Bathe each pizza roll with the melted flavored butter. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and brown the rolls for a few minutes on each side, until the cheese melts and the bread is lightly crispy. Serve immediately.

About this recipe

These stuffed bread slice rolls remind me of Sunday afternoons at my grandmother's house. She was always looking for simple but flavorful recipes to please us all. Although she didn't have Thermomix®, I'm sure she would have loved how easy it is to prepare the flavored butter. For me, this dish is a small tribute to those happy moments. The bread slice is the base, soft and fluffy, which contrasts wonderfully with the crunchiness of the bacon. It is important to choose a good quality bread slice, preferably without crust, so that the rolls are more uniform. The fried tomato provides juiciness and a slightly sweet touch that balances the salty flavor of the bacon. Don't skimp on the amount, but don't overdo it either, as it could moisten the bread too much. The grated cheese, of course, is the star ingredient, the one that unites all the flavors and creates that melting texture that is so appetizing. I usually use a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar for a more intense flavor, but you can use the one you like the most. The Thermomix® greatly facilitates the preparation of flavored butter. The gentle heat and controlled speed allow the butter to melt without burning and the flavors of the garlic powder and oregano to integrate perfectly. If you don't have Thermomix®, you can melt the butter in a saucepan over very low heat or in the microwave, being careful not to burn it. Then, simply add the garlic powder and oregano and mix well. By bathing the rolls with this butter, we not only give them a delicious flavor, but we also help them to brown evenly in the pan. If you want a vegetarian version, you can substitute the bacon for sautéed mushrooms, roasted peppers or even spinach. For a vegan version, use vegan bread slice, vegan fried tomato, vegan grated cheese and vegetable margarine instead of butter. You can also experiment with different spices, such as sweet paprika, herbs of Provence or even a little chili powder for a spicy touch. These rolls are perfect as an appetizer, accompanied by a fresh salad or a yogurt sauce. You can also serve them as an informal dinner, along with a soup or a cream of vegetables. If you have any left over, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days. To reheat them, you can use the oven, the microwave or the pan. You can also prepare them in advance and store them in the fridge without browning. In that case, simply bathe them with the flavored butter and brown them in the pan just before serving.
