Description

This Montezuma Casserole is a hearty main course with Mexican flavors. It consists of chicken breast, bell peppers, onions, corn, kidney beans, sour cream, tortilla chips, and cheese. Preparation takes about 50 minutes and the recipe is designed for 4 servings. Ideal for a party or for using leftovers.

Ingredients (9 ingredients)

  • 1 Fl Chilli sauce
  • 750 g Chicken breast strips, fried
  • 1 Stück Red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 Stück Onions, diced
  • 1 kl. Can of corn
  • 1 kl. Can of kidney beans
  • 300 ml Sour cream
  • 200 g Grated cheese
  • 200 g Tortilla chips

Preparation (14 steps)

Fry the chicken

Fry 750 g of chicken breast strips in a separate pan and set aside.

Prepare the bell peppers and onions

Slice 1 red bell pepper and 1-2 onions with the Wundermix WunderSlicer V2. Place the WunderSlicer V2 on the mixing bowl lid and select the desired slice (fine/coarse). Collect the sliced ingredients and set aside.

Layer the casserole - first layer

Pour 1-2 bottles of chili sauce into a baking dish.

Layer the casserole - second layer

Spread half of the fried chicken breast strips on the chili sauce.

Layer the casserole - third layer

Spread 150 ml of sour cream on the chicken.

Layer the casserole - fourth layer

Spread 100 g of tortilla chips on the sour cream.

Layer the casserole - fifth layer

Spread 75-100 g of grated cheese on the tortilla chips.

Layer the casserole - sixth layer

Spread half of the fried chicken, 1 small can of corn and 1 small can of kidney beans on the cheese.

Layer the casserole - seventh layer

Spread the remaining chili sauce on the casserole.

Spread the remaining sour cream on the casserole.

Layer the casserole - ninth layer

Spread the remaining tortilla chips on the sour cream.

Layer the casserole - tenth layer

Spread the remaining cheese on the tortilla chips.

Bake the casserole

Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes at 180°C. Then remove the aluminum foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the surface bubbles.

Finish baking the casserole

Bake the casserole without aluminum foil for another 10-15 minutes until the surface bubbles.
