Description

Chicken tagine with dried fruit is a tasty and fragrant dish, perfect for festive meals or convivial dinners. I have been preparing this recipe for years and it always creates a sensation with my guests. The chicken, tender and soft, is enhanced by the sweet flavors of prunes and raisins, as well as the crunchiness of almonds. The spices, such as paprika, ginger and cinnamon, add a warm and exotic touch. A complete and comforting dish, ideal for autumn and winter evenings. Feel free to vary the dried fruits according to your tastes!

Ingredients (12 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Chicken
  • 150 g Chickpeas
  • 150 g Almonds
  • 1 piece Onion(s)
  • 150 g Pitted prunes
  • 100 g Raisin(s)
  • 1 c. à café Paprika
  • 1 c. à café Ginger powder
  • Turmeric powder
  • Cinnamon powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Preparation (7 steps)

Preparation of the chickpeas

Soak 150 g of chickpeas in a large amount of water for 12 hours. Drain them very carefully.

Chicken preparation

Cut the chicken into 8 pieces and put them in a large pot (the giblets are not used).

Initial cooking of chicken and chickpeas

Add the chickpeas to the chicken. Pour in enough water to cover the chicken. Cook, covered, over low heat for about 30 minutes. Skim from time to time. (This step is done outside the Thermomix)

Preparation of almonds

Scald 150 g of almonds, then cool them under cold water and peel them.

Preparation of onions and raisins

Peel the onions and cut them into thin rings. Wash and drain 100 g of raisins.

Adding ingredients and spices

Transfer the cooked chicken and chickpeas to the Thermomix bowl. Add the almonds, pitted prunes, onions and raisins. Stir in 1 tsp of paprika, 1 tsp of ginger powder, 0 tsp of turmeric powder and 0 tsp of cinnamon powder. Salt and pepper.

Final cooking in the Thermomix
