Description

These smoked salmon and cheese pinwheels are a delicious and very easy to prepare appetizer, perfect for a buffet or an aperitif with friends. The white bread, softened and filled with creamy cheese, smoked salmon and fresh rocket, turns into an elegant and tasty roll. The preparation is very quick, but resting in the refrigerator is essential to obtain perfect pinwheels to cut. A simple but impressive idea, which will conquer all your guests! Ideal for a Sunday brunch or a summer dinner.

Ingredients (4 ingredients)

  • Smoked salmon
  • Sliced white bread
  • Spreadable cheese
  • Rocket

Preparation (6 steps)

1

Flattened Bread

Take the slices of white bread and remove the dark crust. Flatten the slices of bread with a rolling pin applying light pressure. This step is essential to make the bread more elastic and compact.

2

Spreadable Cheese Spread

Spread a generous and uniform layer of spreadable cheese over the entire surface of the flattened slices of bread, reaching almost to the edges.

3

Filling

Distribute the slices of smoked salmon over the cheese. Add a little fresh chopped rocket (do not put too much inside, otherwise you will struggle to close the roll).

4

Roll and Wrap

Roll the bread on itself starting from the shorter side, trying to tighten well to not leave air gaps. Wrap each roll tightly in plastic wrap, closing the ends.

5

Rest in Refrigerator

Put the wrapped rolls in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. The cold will harden the cheese, making the roll compact and very easy to cut.

6

Cutting and Decoration

After the resting time, remove the plastic wrap. With a sharp knife, cut the roll into slices about 2 cm thick to obtain the pinwheels. Arrange them on a serving dish creating a bed with the remaining rocket.
