Über das Rezept

This Spinach Strawberry Banana Smoothie has become a staple in my kitchen, born out of a desire to sneak more greens into my family's diet without sacrificing flavor. My kids, like many, weren't always thrilled about eating their vegetables, but the vibrant color and sweet taste of this smoothie completely won them over. It's a recipe that's evolved over time, tweaked and perfected to strike the perfect balance between health and deliciousness. The beauty of this smoothie lies in the synergy of its ingredients. The spinach, while seemingly assertive, provides a wealth of vitamins and minerals without overpowering the overall taste. Its mild flavor is easily masked by the sweetness of the frozen strawberries and banana. Speaking of strawberries, using frozen ones is key. They contribute to the smoothie's frosty texture and concentrated flavor, making it feel like a true treat. The frozen banana adds creaminess and natural sweetness, acting as a natural thickener and eliminating the need for excessive added sugar. Almond milk serves as the liquid base, keeping the smoothie dairy-free and adding a subtle nutty undertone. Finally, the agave nectar is entirely optional. I often skip it altogether, especially when the strawberries and banana are particularly ripe. However, a touch of agave can enhance the sweetness for those with a stronger sweet tooth. When preparing this smoothie in the Thermomix®, the order of ingredients matters slightly. I recommend adding the almond milk first, followed by the spinach. This helps the spinach blend more easily and prevents it from getting stuck at the bottom of the mixing bowl. Then, add the frozen strawberries and banana. Finally, drizzle in the agave nectar, if using. The Thermomix®'s powerful motor makes quick work of the frozen fruit, resulting in a perfectly smooth and creamy consistency. Be sure to start at a lower speed and gradually increase it to avoid splattering. If you find the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more almond milk until you reach your desired consistency. This smoothie is incredibly versatile. For a vegetarian option, simply ensure your agave nectar is sourced from a vegetarian-friendly supplier. To add a boost of protein, consider incorporating a scoop of your favorite plant-based protein powder. A pinch of cinnamon or a dash of vanilla extract can also add a warm and comforting flavor. For a tropical twist, try substituting some of the strawberries with mango or pineapple. I love serving this smoothie immediately after blending, when it's at its coldest and freshest. It's perfect as a quick breakfast, a post-workout recovery drink, or a refreshing afternoon snack. You can also pour it into popsicle molds for a healthy and delicious frozen treat. A sprinkle of chia seeds or a few fresh berries on top can add a touch of visual appeal. While this smoothie is best enjoyed fresh, you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. However, keep in mind that the texture may change slightly as the ingredients separate. Give it a good shake or blend it briefly before serving. Alternatively, you can prepare the ingredients in advance by combining the spinach, strawberries, and banana in a freezer-safe bag. When you're ready to make the smoothie, simply add the frozen mixture to the Thermomix® with the almond milk and agave nectar. This makes it even easier to enjoy a healthy and delicious smoothie any time of day.
