About this recipe

The Meatballs Tuscany from the oven are a real classic in our home. I still remember well how my grandma always prepared them, but without a Thermomix®. She stood at the stove for hours to season the sauce perfectly. With the Thermomix® this is much faster and easier, without affecting the taste. The secret of this dish lies in the combination of juicy meatballs and an aromatic tomato cream sauce. The minced meat, preferably mixed from beef and pork, is made wonderfully spicy by the spices – salt, pepper, hot paprika. The onions and garlic, which are finely chopped in the Thermomix®, form the basis for the sauce and provide a pleasant spice. The tomato paste gives the sauce an intense tomato note, while cream and milk make it creamy and mild. Flour serves as a binder and ensures the desired consistency. The Italian herbs, a mixture of oregano, basil, thyme and rosemary, give the dish the typical Tuscan flavor. And of course, the mozzarella should not be missing, which melts when baked and forms a delicious crust. When preparing, it is important to season the minced meat well and not to form the balls too large so that they cook evenly. In the Thermomix®, chopping onions and garlic is child's play. Be careful not to sauté the onions for too long so that they do not burn. When boiling the sauce, it is important to put on the measuring cup to avoid splashing. If the sauce becomes too thick, you can add some more milk. For a vegetarian version, you can replace the minced meat with a mixture of lentils, rice and vegetables. Instead of cream, you can also use soy cream or cashew cream. Vegan grated cheese is suitable instead of mozzarella. You can let your creativity run wild with the spices. Try it with smoked paprika powder, chili or a pinch of sugar. The Meatballs Tuscany from the oven taste best with fresh baguette or ciabatta to soak up the delicious sauce. A crunchy salad with a light vinegar-oil dressing goes well with it. Rice or pasta are also a good side dish. Leftovers can easily be stored in the refrigerator and reheated the next day. You can also prepare the dish well and put it in the oven shortly before serving. The Meatballs Tuscany are an ideal dish for guests, as they can be prepared well and everyone likes them.
