Description

This pasta salad with tuna is a real summer classic! I love making it because it's so quick and tastes super delicious. The tuna provides a good portion of protein, while the fresh vegetables make the salad nice and crunchy and colorful. The yogurt dressing makes it light and fresh, completely without mayo. Perfect for a quick lunch, a picnic in the countryside or as a side dish for grilling. It can also be varied great, for example with olives or capers. An absolute favorite recipe!

Ingredients (15 ingredients)

  • 300 g Pasta
  • 2 Dosen Tuna - in its own juice
  • 2 piece red bell peppers
  • 250 g Cherry tomatoes
  • 1 piece red onion
  • 140 g Corn - Drained weight
  • 1 piece Romaine lettuce heart
  • 200 g Plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp Mustard
  • 2 tsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic bianco
  • 1 tsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation (5 steps)

Cook pasta

Cook the pasta according to the package instructions in a separate pot and then drain. In the meantime, continue with the next steps.

Prepare vegetables

Cut the bell pepper into strips, halve the cherry tomatoes, finely dice the red onion and cut the romaine lettuce heart into strips. Drain the corn. Put the tuna in a sieve and pour off the juice.

Prepare dressing

Put plain yogurt, mustard, soy sauce, balsamic bianco, tomato paste and olive oil into the mixing bowl and stir for 20 sec./level 3.

Season dressing

Season the dressing with salt and pepper and add a little balsamic vinegar or soy sauce if necessary.

Mix salad

Put the cooked pasta, bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, onion, romaine lettuce, corn and tuna in a large bowl. Pour the dressing over it and mix everything well.

This pasta salad with Mediterranean tuna is more than just a recipe for me, it is a small culinary journey into my childhood. My grandma always prepared it for family celebrations, of course without Thermomix®, but the taste is unforgettable. I have modernized her recipe a bit and adapted it to the Thermomix® to make it even quicker and easier to prepare. The ingredients all play an important role in the taste experience. The pasta, preferably short varieties such as Farfalle or Penne, form the basis and should not be too soft after cooking so that they retain their shape in the salad. The tuna, in its own juice, brings a hearty, slightly salty note and a pleasant texture to the salad. Make sure to use high-quality tuna, it really makes a difference. The red bell pepper provides sweetness and crunchiness, while the halved cherry tomatoes contribute a fruity acidity. The red onion, finely diced, brings a slight sharpness and spice, which is softened by the dressing. The corn, drained, provides additional sweetness and a pleasant bite. The romaine lettuce heart, cut into strips, gives the salad a fresh, crunchy component. The dressing is the heart of the salad. The plain yogurt forms the base and makes the dressing light and creamy. The mustard provides a pleasant spiciness, the soy sauce for an umami note. The balsamic bianco brings a fruity acidity and the tomato paste a light sweetness and color. The olive oil rounds off the dressing and ensures a smooth consistency. In the Thermomix® the preparation of the dressing is very easy. Simply put all the ingredients into the mixing bowl and stir. Make sure to season the dressing well with salt and pepper afterwards. Here you can also experiment with a little balsamic vinegar or soy sauce to adjust the taste to your preferences. For a vegetarian version, you can simply omit the tuna and add more vegetables instead, such as olives, capers or sun-dried tomatoes. A vegan version is also possible by replacing the plain yogurt with a plant-based yogurt alternative. You can also let your creativity run wild with the spices. Try some garlic powder, paprika powder or dried herbs such as oregano or basil. The pasta salad with Mediterranean tuna is a versatile dish that is suitable both as a main course and as a side dish. It goes perfectly with grilled food, but also with a simple piece of bread. You can also prepare it well and take it with you, for example to a picnic or to the office. Stored in the refrigerator, the salad will keep for a good 2-3 days. However, it is possible that the noodles absorb some liquid, so you should mix it well before serving and add some dressing if necessary. You can also prepare the salad well by storing the pasta and vegetables separately and mixing them with the dressing shortly before serving. This keeps the salad fresh and crunchy for longer.
