Description

This hearty gnocchi casserole is a quick and uncomplicated dish for the end of the working day. The combination of gnocchi, spicy ham and creamy sauce makes it a real satiating meal. I especially like to make it when I need something quick and still want something hearty on the table. The ham gives the casserole a slightly smoky note that harmonizes perfectly with the creamy taste. An absolute favorite recipe that is always well received by us! By the way, it can also be varied with other vegetables.

About this recipe

This gnocchi casserole has become a real classic in our home. I still remember well the first time I made gnocchi myself – quite an undertaking! In the meantime, however, I like to fall back on the finished ones, especially when I need something quick. This casserole is then the perfect solution to still bring something homemade to the table. The gnocchi form the basis of the casserole. They are pleasantly soft and absorb the sauce wonderfully. The Katenschinkenlight provides a hearty, slightly smoky note. I like to use the light version to save some fat, but of course you can also use normal Katenschinken if you like it a bit more hearty. The spring onion brings a fresh, slightly spicy component into play, which complements the casserole wonderfully. The cooking cream makes everything nice and creamy and connects the individual ingredients. And the grated cheese? This ensures the golden brown crust and the irresistible cheese taste that simply belongs to a good casserole. The preparation with the Thermomix® is very simple. First chop the spring onion – this is done quickly and evenly. Then simply put all the ingredients in a casserole dish and mix well. Make sure that the gnocchi are evenly distributed so that they are all covered by the sauce. Be careful when seasoning with salt, as the ham already contains salt. It is better to try first and then season if necessary. Variations are of course allowed with this recipe! If you like it vegetarian, you can simply omit the ham and add more vegetables instead, such as peppers, zucchini or mushrooms. Spinach also goes very well. For a vegan version, you can use vegan gnocchi and a vegan cooking cream. Instead of cheese, you can use nutritional yeast for a cheesy taste. You can also let off steam with the spices. A little nutmeg, paprika powder or herbs of Provence go perfectly. The gnocchi casserole is best served warm, straight from the oven. A fresh salad goes well with it, for example a green salad with a light vinegar-oil dressing. A tomato salad or a cucumber salad are also a good addition. If you like it a bit more hearty, you can also serve a dollop of sour cream or crème fraîche with it. Leftovers of the casserole can be stored in the refrigerator without any problems. The next day it tastes almost even better warmed up! You can also prepare the casserole well. Simply put all the ingredients in the casserole dish and store in the refrigerator until baking. Then put it in the oven shortly before eating and bake until golden brown. This way you can quickly have a delicious meal on the table even after a long day at work.
