Description

This potato salad is a true classic! I have been making it since my childhood and it always tastes delicious. The waxy potatoes are cut into thin slices and mixed with onions, mustard, hot broth and a dash of vinegar. The secret lies in the hot broth, which makes the salad really juicy. Seasoned with nutmeg, salt and pepper, it is a pleasure warm or cold. If you like, you can add a few cucumber slices. Perfect as a side dish for grilling or just like that!

Ingredients (8 ingredients)

  • 500 g Potatoes, waxy
  • 2 piece Onion(s), medium-sized
  • 1 tbsp Mustard
  • 125 ml Broth, hot
  • 1 Msp. Nutmeg
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • White wine vinegar

Preparation (7 steps)

Cook potatoes

Thermomix® Setting
25 min/Varoma/Speed 1 Varoma

Put 500 g of waxy potatoes into the simmering basket and fill the mixing bowl with enough water to cover the potatoes. Cook for 25 min./Varoma/speed 1.

Peel and cut potatoes

Carefully remove the cooked potatoes from the mixing bowl, let them cool briefly, peel them and cut them into wafer-thin slices while still warm.

Chop onions

Thermomix® Setting
3 sec/Speed 5

Put 2 medium-sized onions into the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec./speed 5. If necessary, use the spatula to push down from the edge and repeat the process.

Mix potatoes and onions

Place the potato slices and the chopped onions in a bowl and mix carefully.

Prepare broth

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/212°F/Speed 1 100

Pour 125 ml of broth into the mixing bowl and heat for 3 min./100°C/speed 1.

Dress the salad

Pour the hot broth over the potatoes and onions. Add 1 tbsp mustard, some white wine vinegar, 1 pinch of nutmeg, salt and pepper and mix carefully. The salad should not swim in the broth.

Season and serve

Season the potato salad and add salt, pepper and vinegar if necessary. Serve warm or chilled.
