Description

This traditional poppy seed stollen is a hearty pastry, especially popular in the winter time and at Christmas. It is prepared with the Thermomix® to optimally prepare the poppy seed filling. The stollen is filled with milk, poppy seeds, nuts and raisins and baked in the oven. Ideal for a festive breakfast or as a sweet side dish to coffee.

Ingredients (9 ingredients)

  • 0.5 l Milk
  • 250 g Poppy seeds
  • 3 EL Syrup or honey
  • 2 EL Sugar
  • 1 Päckchen Vanilla sugar
  • 3 EL Ground nuts
  • 1 Tasse Soaked raisins
  • 3 Tropfen Bitter almond oil
  • 2 Stück Eggs

Preparation (9 steps)

Prepare poppy seeds

Thermomix® Setting

Add 0.5 l milk to the mixing bowl and heat for 3 min./90°C/speed 1.

Let poppy seeds soak

Thermomix® Setting

Add 250 g poppy seeds to the heated milk in the mixing bowl and mix for 10 sec./speed 3. Then transfer to a bowl and let it soak.

Refine poppy seed mixture

Add 3 tbsp syrup or honey, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 packet vanilla sugar, 3 tbsp ground nuts, 1 cup soaked raisins and 3 drops bitter almond oil to the bowl with the soaked poppy seeds and mix well.

Add eggs

Add 2 eggs to the poppy seed mixture and mix well.

Prepare yeast dough

Roll out the yeast dough on a baking sheet.

Spread filling

Spread the poppy seed filling evenly on the rolled out yeast dough.

Shape stollen

Roll the dough with the filling into a stollen.

Let stollen rise

Let the stollen rise in a warm place to double its size.

Bake stollen

Bake the stollen in a preheated oven for 20 minutes at 180°C. Then reduce the temperature to 100°C and bake for another 40 minutes.
