Description

This simple Tomato Sauce is an absolute classic of Italian cuisine! I always make it when the tomatoes are particularly aromatic in the summer. The preparation is very easy and the Thermomix® does almost all the work. The sauce tastes delicious with pasta, as a base for pizza or simply as a dip with bread. A dash of olive oil and fresh basil should not be missing, of course. If you like it a little spicier, you can add a pinch of chili. The sauce can also be frozen very well, so you always have a supply for spontaneous pasta evenings!

Ingredients (8 ingredients)

  • Tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Onions
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • Celery
  • Basil
  • to taste Extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste Salt

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare vegetables

Wash the tomatoes, halve them and remove the seeds and watery parts. Peel and roughly chop the onion, celery and carrot. Peel the garlic.

Chop vegetables

Put onion, carrot, celery and garlic in the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec./speed 5. Use the spatula to push everything down from the edge.

Sauté vegetables

Add extra virgin olive oil to the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Add tomatoes and cook

Thermomix® Setting
60 min/212°F/Speed 1 100

Add the prepared tomatoes, basil and salt to the mixing bowl and cook for 60 min./100°C/speed 1. Remove the measuring cup and place the simmering basket on top as a splash guard.

Puree sauce

Thermomix® Setting
30 sec/Speed 8-10

After the cooking time, puree the sauce for 30 sec./speed 8-10 until the desired consistency is reached. Season with salt again if necessary.
