Description

About this recipe

These Spicy Roast Beef Sliders have become a staple in my house, especially when I'm hosting friends for game night or a casual get-together. They're inspired by a classic French Dip sandwich, but with a playful, spicy twist that makes them incredibly addictive. I remember first trying a similar slider at a local deli, and I knew I had to recreate it at home, but with the convenience and precision of my Thermomix®. The beauty of these sliders lies in the interplay of flavors and textures. The thinly sliced deli roast beef provides a savory, meaty base. Using a good quality roast beef is key; look for one that's tender and flavorful. The condensed beef consommé forms the foundation of the rich, umami-packed sauce. Don't be tempted to dilute it – the concentrated flavor is what makes the sauce so special. The diced jalapeño adds a welcome kick of heat, which can be adjusted to your liking. A dash of Worcestershire sauce deepens the savory notes, while salt and pepper balance the flavors. The flour acts as a thickening agent, creating a luscious sauce that clings to the roast beef. The Hawaiian bread rolls provide a slightly sweet and fluffy contrast to the savory filling. Provolone cheese offers a mild, creamy melt, while pepper jack cheese adds another layer of spice and a gooey texture. Finally, the horseradish provides a sharp, pungent counterpoint to the richness of the other ingredients. The Thermomix® makes preparing these sliders a breeze. The initial chopping of the roast beef is quick and efficient. Be careful not to over-process it; you want small pieces, not a paste. When heating the consommé, the precise temperature control of the Thermomix® prevents scorching. The addition of the flour and subsequent mixing ensures a smooth, lump-free sauce. Remember to use the reverse blade function when warming the roast beef in the sauce to prevent it from shredding too much. For variations, you could easily adapt this recipe to be vegetarian or vegan. Substitute the roast beef with thinly sliced portobello mushrooms marinated in balsamic vinegar and soy sauce. Use vegetable broth instead of beef consommé and a plant-based Worcestershire sauce. For a vegan cheese option, there are many great melting vegan cheeses available. You can also experiment with different spices. Smoked paprika, garlic powder, or onion powder would all add interesting flavor dimensions. Serve these sliders hot, straight from the oven. They're perfect on their own, but also pair well with a side of coleslaw, potato salad, or a simple green salad. For a more substantial meal, serve them with a bowl of tomato soup or a side of crispy fries. If you have any leftover sliders, they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the oven or microwave until warmed through. The roast beef mixture can also be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This makes it easy to assemble the sliders just before serving.
