Description

This recipe for bell peppers in tomato sauce is a classic of Italian cuisine, perfect for a summer lunch or as a tasty side dish. The red and yellow bell peppers, slowly cooked in a rich tomato sauce with onion, garlic and fresh basil, release an irresistible aroma. I often prepare it when I have guests for dinner, because it is a simple dish to make and that everyone always likes. It can be served hot or lukewarm, accompanied by fresh bread to make the 'scarpetta'! A true Mediterranean comfort food, vegetarian and full of flavor.

Ingredients (7 ingredients)

  • 500 g bell peppers _red and yellow_
  • 1 piece onions
  • 1 clove garlic _to taste_
  • 200 g tomato sauce
  • 5 foglie basil
  • olive oil
  • fine salt

Preparation (7 steps)

Prepare bell peppers

Wash the _red and yellow_ bell peppers (500 g), core them and cut them into strips. Then halve the strips and set aside.

Chop onion

Put olive oil _to taste_ and a garlic clove _to taste_ in the mixing bowl and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3 min./120°C/speed 1.

Add the prepared bell peppers, fine salt _to taste_ and cook for 15 min./100°C/speed 1/reverse.

Add tomato sauce and finish cooking

10 min/212°F/Speed 1/Linkslauf 100 Reverse

Add tomato sauce (200 g) and cook for another 10 min./100°C/speed 1/reverse.

Roughly chop 5 basil leaves, add and stir in for 1 min./90°C/gentle stir setting/reverse.
