Description

These balsamic caramelized red onions are a simple but delicious side dish, perfect for accompanying meat or fish. The sweetness of the red onions blends perfectly with the acidity of the balsamic vinegar, creating an irresistible balance of flavors. I often prepare them when I have guests for dinner because they are easy to make and everyone always likes them. The preparation is quick, about 10 minutes, and baking in the oven makes them tender and lightly caramelized. A true autumnal comfort food!

Ingredients (4 ingredients)

  • Red onions
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Extra virgin olive oil (EVO)
  • to taste Balsamic vinegar

Preparation (5 steps)

Onions in wedges

Peel the red onions and cut them into wedges. Transfer the wedges into the Thermomix bowl.

Season the onions

Add a pinch of salt and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil to the onions in the bowl. Mix gently with the spatula.

Initial cooking

Pour the seasoned onions onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10 minutes.

Addition of balsamic vinegar

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and drizzle the onions with a little balsamic vinegar. Mix gently.

Final cooking

Put the baking sheet back in the oven and cook for another 15 minutes, or until the onions are tender and lightly caramelized.
