Description

This rustic apple tart is a delightful dessert that's surprisingly easy to make. The buttery crust, made quickly in the Thermomix®, cradles a sweet and slightly spiced apple filling. Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.5 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 5 piece small apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preparation (9 steps)

Combine dry ingredients

Add 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1 pinch salt to the Thermomix bowl and mix for 5 Sec./Stufe 4.

Add butter and mix

Thermomix® Setting
15 sec/Speed 4

Add ½ cup cold butter, cubed, to the Thermomix bowl and mix for 15 Sek./Stufe 4 until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add water and vanilla extract

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 3

Add 3 tablespoons water and ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract to the Thermomix bowl and mix for 20 Sek./Stufe 3 until the dough comes together. Use the spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed.

Chill the dough

Gently roll the dough into a ball and flatten slightly. Wrap with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

Prepare the apple filling

In a large bowl, toss 5 small apples (peeled, cored, and sliced) with 1/2 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons flour. Set aside.

Preheat oven

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Assemble the crostata

Roll dough out to a 12-inch circle on a floured work surface. Transfer to the baking sheet. Arrange apple slices in the center of the circle, leaving a 2-inch border all around. Fold up border over apples, pinching together slightly.

Add cinnamon sugar

Combine 1 tablespoon sugar and ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle over apples.

Bake the crostata

Bake crostata in the preheated oven until crust is golden brown, 30 to 40 minutes.
