  • 500 g Flour
  • 250 ml Milk
  • 1 Würfel Yeast
  • 75 g Butter, softened
  • 1 TL Salt
  • 1 TL Sugar
  • 1 Stück Egg yolk
  • 2 EL Milk

Prepare the yeast

Place 250 ml milk, 1 cube of yeast and 1 tsp sugar in the mixing bowl and heat for 2 min./37°C/speed 2.

Prepare the dough

Thermomix® Setting
3 min/Kneading speed

Add 500 g flour, 1 tsp salt, 75 g soft butter and the prepared yeast-milk mixture to the mixing bowl and knead for 3 min./kneading setting.

Let the dough rise

Place the dough in a bowl, cover with a cloth and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until the volume has doubled.

Form the braid

Halve the dough and roll each half into a strand about 50 cm long. Twist the strands around each other to form a braid.

Brush the braid

Place 1 egg yolk and 2 tbsp milk in the mixing bowl and mix for 10 sec./speed 3.

Brush and bake the braid

Brush the braid with the egg yolk-milk mixture and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C top/bottom heat for about 25-30 minutes.
