About this recipe

The soft pear cake is a timeless classic of home cooking. I remember my grandmother often prepared it, especially in the fall, when the pears from her tree were ripe and juicy. The scent that spread throughout the house during cooking was unmistakable, a real invitation to gluttony. This recipe, in its simplicity, contains an authentic and comforting flavor, perfect for pampering yourself a little. Pears are the undisputed stars of this cake. Their natural sweetness and soft texture blend harmoniously with the dough, creating a perfect balance. I preferably use William or Abate pears, because they are particularly fragrant and maintain their shape well during cooking. Sugar, of course, contributes to the overall sweetness, but it is important not to overdo it so as not to cover the delicate flavor of the pears. Milk and seed oil give the dough the right moisture and softness. 00 flour, light and versatile, is ideal for obtaining a cake with an airy texture. Finally, baking powder guarantees optimal leavening, making the cake tall and soft. With the Thermomix®, the preparation of this cake becomes even easier and faster. It is essential to respect the times and speeds indicated to obtain a homogeneous and lump-free dough. A tip: if the pears are particularly juicy, you can lightly flour them before adding them to the dough, so as to avoid the cake being too moist. During cooking, check the cake with a toothpick: if it comes out clean, it means it's ready. If the surface darkens too quickly, cover it with a sheet of parchment paper. To vary a bit, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough, which goes very well with the flavor of the pears. For a more delicious version, you can add dark chocolate chips. If you want to prepare a vegan version, you can replace the eggs with 80 g of apple puree and cow's milk with soy or almond milk. The soft pear cake is perfect to enjoy warm, perhaps accompanied by a cup of hot tea or a glass of fresh milk. You can also serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or with a spoonful of whipped cream. It can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days, wrapped in a sheet of transparent film or in an airtight container. You can also prepare it in advance and freeze it: it will remain perfect for about a month. Before serving, let it thaw at room temperature for a few hours.
