Description

These flour biscuits are a classic that never fails. I remember my grandmother always made them for breakfast, and the aroma filled the whole house. They are perfect for dipping in milk or coffee, and their mild flavour makes them irresistible for young and old. The recipe is very simple and with the Thermomix® they are prepared in the blink of an eye. Go ahead and try them! They are ideal to always have on hand and enjoy a sweet moment at any time of the day. You can also personalize them with different shapes and decorations.

Ingredients (6 ingredients)

  • 500 gramos plain flour
  • 150 gramos sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 150 gramos cold unsalted butter
  • 1 piece egg L
  • 4 cucharadas soperas milk

Preparation (9 steps)

Prepare the dry ingredients

Thermomix® Setting
5 Seg./Speed 4

Place the flour and salt in the bowl. Mix for 5 Sec./Speed 4 to combine the dry ingredients.

Add sugar and butter

Thermomix® Setting
20 Seg./Speed 5

Add the sugar and cold butter, cut into pieces, to the bowl. Mix for 20 Sec./Speed 5 until a sandy texture is obtained.

Incorporate the egg and milk

Thermomix® Setting
30 Seg./Speed 4

Add the egg and milk to the bowl. Mix for 30 Sec./Speed 4. If the dough is very dry, add a little more milk, spoonful by spoonful, until a ball forms.

Rest the dough

Remove the dough from the bowl, form a ball, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven

Preheat the oven to 180°C with heat above and below.

Roll out and cut the biscuits

Lightly flour a work surface and a rolling pin. Roll out the dough until it is about 3 mm thick. Cut out circles of dough with a cutter about 6 cm in diameter.

Decorate the biscuits (optional)

Prick the surface of the biscuits with a toothpick to make the typical holes. If desired, mark the letters MARÍA in the centre of the biscuit and decorate the edges with a letter marker.

Bake the biscuits

Line a tray with baking paper and place the biscuits on it, separated a little from each other. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown to your liking.

Cool and store

Leave the biscuits to cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight metal tin.
