Description

This chicken in sweet and sour sauce is a recipe that I often make at home. The combination of crispy chicken with sweet and sour sauce is simply irresistible. It is perfect for a quick weekday meal or to surprise your guests at a special dinner. The sauce, made with tomato sauce, soy sauce, vinegar and brown sugar, gives it a delicious oriental touch. It is prepared in less than an hour and is ideal to accompany with white rice. Go ahead and try it, you will love it! Also, you can add pieces of pineapple to give it a more tropical touch.

Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Chicken breast
  • 1 piece Egg
  • 150 gramos Flour
  • 100 mililitros Tomato sauce (Ketchup)
  • 50 mililitros Soy sauce
  • 50 mililitros White vinegar
  • 80 gramos Brown sugar
  • 500 mililitros Sunflower oil
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Pepper

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare the chicken

Cut 1 chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Beat 1 egg in a deep dish. In another dish, place 150 grams of flour. Dip each piece of chicken first in the beaten egg and then in the flour, making sure they are completely covered. Refrigerate for 5 minutes.

Fry the chicken

Pour 500 ml of sunflower oil into a pan. Heat the oil to medium temperature. Fry the breaded chicken pieces for 5 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and place on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Prepare the sweet and sour sauce

In the Thermomix bowl, add 100 ml of tomato sauce, 50 ml of soy sauce, 80 grams of brown sugar, 50 ml of white vinegar and 3 tablespoons of water.

Cook the sauce

Thermomix® Setting

Program the Thermomix to cook the sauce for 3 minutes at 100°C at speed 2. Make sure the sauce boils and thickens. Add a pinch of pepper to taste.

Mix the chicken with the sauce

Thermomix® Setting
1 min/194°F/Linkslauf Speed 1 90 Reverse

Add the fried chicken pieces to the Thermomix bowl with the sweet and sour sauce. Program 1 minute at 90°C at speed 1 with left turn to gently mix the chicken with the sauce without it falling apart.

Serve

Serve the chicken in hot sweet and sour sauce. It can be accompanied with white rice.
