Description

This Hungarian stew with potatoes is a comforting and flavorful dish, perfect for cold autumn evenings. The beef, tender and succulent, goes perfectly with the sweetness of the carrots and the texture of the potatoes. A touch of paprika and cumin gives it an unmistakable aroma. I often prepare it when I need a substantial and easy-to-make meal. It can be served with a side of fresh bread to collect the delicious sauce. A true comfort food!

Ingredients (11 ingredients)

  • 1 piece Golden onion
  • 30 g Butter
  • 1 tbsp Sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 500 g Beef stew
  • 500 ml Beef broth
  • 400 g Sauce tomatoes
  • 2 piece Carrots
  • 300 g Yellow potatoes
  • 1 bunch Fresh chopped parsley
  • Flour

Preparation (7 steps)

Preparation of the onions

A coarsely chopped golden onion in the bowl and chop for 3 Sec./Stufe 5.

Sauté the onions

Add 30g butter in the bowl and cook for 3 Min./120°C/Stufe 1.

Addition of spices

Add 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika and 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds in the bowl and mix for 10 Sec./Stufe 2.

Brown the meat

Flour 500g beef stew. In a pan, brown the floured meat over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes. Transfer the browned meat to the bowl.

Addition of broth and vegetables

Add 500ml beef broth, 400g diced sauce tomatoes, 2 cleaned carrots into thick slices and 300g peeled diced potatoes in the bowl. Season with salt.

Cooking the stew

Cook for 90 Min./100°C/Stufe 1. Check the consistency of the meat and potatoes, extending the cooking time if necessary.

Final addition of parsley

At the end of cooking, add 1 bunch of fresh chopped parsley and mix for 5 Sec./Stufe 2.
