Description

These stewed lentils are a traditional Spanish dish, perfect for cold days. The combination of lentils with chorizo, Serrano ham and vegetables creates a tasty and comforting stew. I always prepare them in winter, and they never fail! The recipe is very simple and can be adapted to your tastes, adding more vegetables or spices. Also, it is an economical and nutritious option for the whole family. Try them with a piece of crusty bread to fully enjoy its flavor. A spoon dish that will warm your soul!

Ingredients (13 ingredients)

  • 250 Gr Lentils
  • 1 piece Chorizo for stew
  • 100 gr Serrano ham
  • 1 piece Large onion
  • 1 vasopequeño Olive oil
  • 3 cdas Wine (optional)
  • 1 hoja Bay leaf
  • 2 piece Large carrots
  • 3 piece Small potatoes
  • 2 dientes Garlic
  • 1 pinch Saffron or food coloring
  • 1 pinch Ground pepper
  • 1 pinch Salt

Preparation (6 steps)

Soaking the lentils

Soak the lentils in water for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Preparation of vegetables

Peel and quarter the onion. Place it in the bowl and chop 3 Sec./Level 5. Lower the remains of the walls with the spatula.

Sautéed onion and garlic

Add the olive oil and peeled garlic cloves to the bowl. Sauté for 5 Min./120°C/Level 1.

Add the rest of the ingredients

Add the soaked and drained lentils, the sliced chorizo, the diced Serrano ham, the peeled and sliced carrots, the peeled and whole small potatoes, the bay leaf, the wine (optional), the saffron or food coloring, the ground pepper and the salt to the bowl.

Cooking the lentils

Thermomix® Setting
35 min/212°F/Speed 1/Giro a la izquierda 100 Reverse

Cover with water up to the maximum mark of the bowl. Program 35 Min./100°C/Level 1/Reverse rotation.

Serve

Serve hot. Optionally, you can add a stir-fry of garlic and crushed fried bread to enrich the flavor.
