Description

This dish of Moroccan-style battered fish fillets is a delight that I often prepare at home. The marinade with garlic, lemon and spices gives the fish an exotic and very pleasant flavour. The crispy batter contrasts wonderfully with the juiciness of the fish. It is a simple and quick recipe, perfect for a weekday meal. I like to serve it with rice, but it also goes very well with a fresh salad. Go ahead and try it, you'll love it!

Ingredients (16 ingredients)

  • 2 piece fish fillets
  • 0.5 piece lemon
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 clove garlic
  • 0.5 tsp cumin
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 0.5 tsp hot paprika
  • 0.5 tsp parsley
  • 1 piece egg
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • sunflower oil

Preparation (6 steps)

Prepare the marinade

Peel 3 cloves of garlic and put them in the bowl. Program 3 Sec./Speed 7 to chop them finely. Add 4 tablespoons of olive oil, the juice of half a lemon, ½ teaspoon of cumin, ½ teaspoon of black pepper, ½ teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of turmeric (or curry) and ½ teaspoon of hot paprika. Mix 10 Sec./Speed 3. Pour the mixture into a bowl and set aside.

Marinate the fish

Cut 2 fish fillets in half. Dip each piece of fish in the marinade, making sure they are well soaked. Marinate for at least 20 minutes.

Prepare the batter

On a plate, put 4 tablespoons of flour and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well with a spoon. In another plate, beat 1 egg with a pinch of salt, pepper and 3 tablespoons of milk.

Batter the fish

Pass each piece of fish first through the flour, making sure it is well covered, and then through the beaten egg mixture.

Fry the fish

Heat plenty of sunflower oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the battered fish pieces until golden brown on both sides. Remove and place on a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil.

Serve

Serve the battered fish fillets immediately. They can be accompanied with rice, salad or the garnish you want.
