Description

This marzipan-poppy seed cake, prepared in the Thermomix®, is a festive dessert with poppy seeds, marzipan, eggs, and cream. The preparation takes about 300 minutes, of which 45 minutes are active working time. The recipe yields 16 servings and is ideal for special occasions or the Christmas season. A cake recipe for lovers of poppy seeds and marzipan.

  • 4 Stück Eggs
  • 240 g Sugar
  • 1 Prise Salt
  • 170 g Poppy seeds
  • 135 g Flour
  • 1.5 TL Baking powder
  • 750 g Cream
  • 25 g Cream stiffener
  • 300 g Marzipan cover
  • 2 EL Cocoa for dusting

Preparation (7 steps)

Preheat oven and prepare springform pan

Preheat oven to 200 °C. Line a springform pan (Ø 26 cm) with baking paper.

Whisk eggs, sugar and salt

Insert the mixing attachment. Add eggs, sugar and salt to the mixing bowl and whisk for 6 min./37°C/speed 4.

Mix poppy seeds

Add poppy seeds and mix for 1 min./speed 4.

Stir in flour and baking powder

Add flour and baking powder and stir in for 5 sec./speed 3. Remove the mixing attachment. Pour the dough into the prepared springform pan, bake for 25-30 minutes (200°C) and let cool. During this time, rinse the mixing bowl and mixing attachment and continue with the recipe.

Whip the cream until stiff

Insert the mixing attachment. Add cream and cream stiffener to the mixing bowl and whip on speed 3 without time setting until desired stiffness is reached. Remove the mixing attachment and pour cream into a bowl.

Fill the cake

Divide the poppy seed sponge cake horizontally into 2 equal layers, place a cake ring around the bottom layer and spread 2/3 of the cream on top. Place the 2nd layer on top and spread the remaining cream on top and refrigerate for about 3 hours.

Decorate cake

Roll out the marzipan cover on a silicone mat (Ø 30-32 cm), place it on the cake, dust with cocoa, cut into pieces and serve.
