About this recipe

Fruity sparkling wine - that's summer in a glass for me. I still remember my first encounter with this type of drink. It was at a garden party with friends, and the hostess had prepared a huge bowl of sparkling wine and fresh fruit. The combination of the tangy acidity of the sparkling wine and the sweetness of the fruit was simply stunning. Since then, I've enjoyed experimenting with different fruit combinations and have developed my own favorites. In this recipe, the ingredients play a crucial role. The pomegranate brings a slightly sour note and a crunchy bite to the table. The small, ruby-red kernels are not only visually appealing, but also rich in antioxidants. Strawberries contribute a sweet, fruity note and a soft texture. The mint provides a refreshing coolness and an aromatic counterweight to the sweetness of the other fruits. Pineapple brings a tropical sweetness and a slightly sour note, while basil adds an interesting, unexpected component with its slightly peppery aroma. The combination of pineapple and basil may seem unusual at first, but it harmonizes surprisingly well with each other. The sparkling wine itself should be dry or semi-dry so as not to overshadow the sweetness of the fruit. The preparation is very simple and hardly requires the use of the Thermomix®. The Thermomix® is not used directly here, but it can be helpful to dice the pineapple particularly finely if you want. To do this, simply chop the pineapple pieces briefly on level 4-5. But be careful not to chop for too long, otherwise it will become mush! Otherwise, the preparation is limited to peeling and cutting the fruit. Make sure not to cut the strawberries too small so that they don't fall apart in the sparkling wine. It is best to add the mint and basil just before serving so that they do not lose their aroma. This recipe can be varied wonderfully. For a vegan version, you can use a vegan sparkling wine instead of sparkling wine. If you like it a little spicier, you can add a pinch of ginger or chili. Other fruits such as raspberries, blueberries or peaches also go very well. If you don't like alcohol, you can replace the sparkling wine with mineral water or ginger ale. Serve the fruity sparkling wine variations ice cold. To do this, you can put the glasses in the refrigerator for a short time before filling them. Small snacks such as cheese cubes, olives or bruschetta go well as a side dish. A light salad with fruit and nuts also goes well with it. The prepared fruit can be stored in the refrigerator, but should not be stored for too long, otherwise it will lose its aroma. It is best to add the sparkling wine just before serving so that it does not become stale. If you want to prepare the sparkling wine variations, you can put the fruit in the glasses and keep them in the refrigerator until serving. Then add the sparkling wine just before serving. This keeps the fruit fresh and the sparkling wine sparkling.
