Description

These sweet Carnival fritters are a traditional delight that I prepare every year. The recipe is very simple and quick to make with the Thermomix®, which makes it a perfect option to enjoy with the family during these festive dates. The dough is soft and slightly sweet, with a touch of lemon and anise that makes them irresistible. They are ideal to accompany with honey or sugar, or even with a scoop of ice cream! Perfect for a dessert or special snack.

Ingredients (10 ingredients)

  • 4 piece eggs
  • 1 cup muscovado sugar
  • 200 gramos common wheat flour
  • 1 piece lemon (its peel)
  • 1 litro semi-skimmed milk
  • 2 tbsp orange blossom water or anise
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 vasos sunflower oil
  • 2 tbsp anise in grain (aniseeds)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon powder

Preparation (8 steps)

Prepare the ingredients

Make sure you have all the ingredients ready and at hand. Grate the zest of a lemon, being careful not to include the white part.

Beat the eggs with sugar and lemon zest

Thermomix® Setting
2 min/Speed 4

Place the eggs and muscovado sugar in the Thermomix glass. Add the lemon zest. Beat for 2 Min./Stufe 4.

Add anise in grain and cinnamon

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 3

Add the anise in grain and cinnamon powder to the glass. Mix for 10 Sek./Stufe 3.

Incorporate orange blossom water

Thermomix® Setting
5 sec/Speed 3

Pour the orange blossom water (or liquid anise) into the glass. Mix for 5 Sek./Stufe 3.

Add the flour

Thermomix® Setting
20 sec/Speed 4

Add the common wheat flour to the glass. Mix for 20 Sek./Stufe 4. If necessary, use the spatula to lower the ingredients from the walls of the glass and mix again for 10 Sek./Stufe 4.

Incorporate the milk

Thermomix® Setting
30 sec/Speed 4

Pour the semi-skimmed milk into the glass. Mix for 30 Sek./Stufe 4, making sure there are no lumps.

Fry the fritters

Heat abundant sunflower oil in a pan. Pour small portions of the dough into the hot oil and fry each fritter for approximately 1 minute on each side, until golden brown. Do not use the Thermomix to fry.

Drain and serve

Remove the fritters from the pan and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil. Serve the hot fritters with honey on top.
