Description

This recipe for Mouflon Lamb Gyro Skewer is an absolute highlight for special occasions! I love making it because it's so incredibly juicy and flavorful. The mouflon lamb, marinated with olive oil and gyro seasoning, becomes melt-in-your-mouth tender thanks to the slow cooking in the oven. The combination with the red onions and tomatoes makes it a Mediterranean taste experience. Perfect for a festive meal with friends or family. Serve with rice or flatbread and a fresh tzatziki. A dish that can be prepared well in advance and is guaranteed to impress!

Ingredients (5 ingredients)

  • 1 Kilogramm Mouflon lamb roast, from neck and shoulder
  • 150 Milliliter Extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 x Red onions
  • 2 x Tomatoes
  • 1 Packung Gyro seasoning

Preparation (5 steps)

Prepare onion

Peel and quarter one red onion. Place in the mixing bowl and chop for 3 sec/speed 5. Transfer and set aside.

Prepare marinade

Thermomix® Setting
10 sec/Speed 3

Add 150 ml of olive oil, the chopped onion and one packet of gyro seasoning to the mixing bowl and mix for 10 sec/speed 3.

Marinate meat

Place the mouflon lamb meat, cut into 5mm thick slices, in a bowl and mix well with the marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Prepare skewer

Cut the remaining red onions and tomatoes into thin slices. Layer the mouflon lamb slices alternately with the tomato and onion slices on a skewer. Soak wooden skewers in water beforehand.

Cook gyro skewer

Cook the skewer in the preheated oven at 150°C convection for 45 minutes. Then increase the temperature to 220°C and brown until crispy to the desired color. Turn the skewer several times during the cooking process.
