About this recipe

This creamy strawberry and jelly dessert reminds me of summer afternoons at my grandmother's house. She always had something sweet prepared, and this was one of my favorites. The combination of the freshness of the strawberries with the smoothness of the cream and the shine of the jelly was simply perfect. Although she made it by hand, without a Thermomix®, I have adapted the recipe to make it even easier and faster to prepare. The strawberry-flavored powdered dessert is the base of the cream. It provides the sweetness and characteristic strawberry flavor, in addition to helping thicken the milk and give it a smooth and creamy texture. Liquid milk, preferably whole for greater creaminess, is combined with the powdered dessert to create a rich and delicious base. Fresh strawberries, cut into slices, add an acidic and refreshing touch that contrasts wonderfully with the sweetness of the cream. The strawberry jelly, finally, provides a firm and shiny texture, in addition to intensifying the strawberry flavor and giving the dessert a visually attractive appearance. To prepare this dessert with the Thermomix®, it is important to follow the steps carefully. When mixing the powdered dessert with the milk, make sure there are no lumps. If necessary, you can use the turbo function of the Thermomix® for a couple of seconds to undo them. During cooking, watch the mixture so that it does not stick to the bottom of the glass. If you see that it starts to, lower the speed a little. Once the cream is ready, pour it quickly into the mold to prevent it from cooling and thickening too much. When adding the strawberries, distribute them evenly over the cream so that they are well distributed in each portion. Let the jelly temper a little before pouring it over the strawberries to prevent them from sinking into the cream. If you want to give this dessert a different touch, you can experiment with other fruits. Raspberries, blueberries or blackberries are excellent alternatives to strawberries. You can also add a little lemon or orange zest to the cream to give it a citrus aroma. For a vegetarian version, make sure that the jelly you use is of vegetable origin (agar-agar). For a vegan version, you can substitute cow's milk for almond or soy milk and use a vegan powdered dessert. This dessert can be served alone or accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. You can also decorate it with a few fresh mint leaves or some white chocolate shavings. It can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator until serving time. In fact, it is best to prepare it a few hours in advance so that the jelly has time to set completely and the flavors mix. It keeps well in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
